Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a set deadline to submit one’s work?

No, we accept manuscripts and creative works on an ongoing basis.

Do I have to be a member to submit?

We ask all authors, creative writers, book reviewers, and artists to sign up for membership or subscribe in the year they are being published.

Can you send me a PDF of an article?

PDFs of your article or that of others are available for purchase. Please go to our Order page. You can find PDFs of archived issues by going to This Bridge Called Cyberspace.

Do I have to become a member in order to order back issues?

No, anyone is able to order back issues, assuming availability. Please go to our back order page.

Do I have to adhere to Chicago author/date guidelines (16th edition) when I submit my article?

Yes, your article must be in Chicago author/date format in order for us to evaluate whether it will be sent out for review.

Are you planning any special or focused issues?

The Journal, with consultation from the National Advisory Board, may agree to host a focused issue (a set of scholarly articles (2-3) which may include commentary, creative writing and an extended book review on a specific topic or theme). It would be integrated into the normal production schedule (this differentiates it from a special issue).

If I represent an institution, how can I order the Journal for our library?

Please see the following link https://journal.malcs.org/subscribe/ for information on how to subscribe.
